Meet John Seekon, Broker & Founder

John Seekon, Broker, JMDS Properties, LLC - Specializing in Resort & Recreational Property Sales

John jumped into the resort business by purchasing The Pines Resort and Campground on Lake Winnibigoshish near Deer River, Minnesota in 2002. He and his wife Doreen owned and operated the resort for 16 years before selling it in June of 2018. During that time they were members of the Community of MN Resorts, on the board of the Itasca County Resort & Tourism Association, and active in the St. Joseph Church in Grand Rapids, MN. Since the early 1980’s, John has also been involved in the residential construction business.

John worked as a real estate agent for several commercial real estate firms over the past couple years, and has successfully helped numerous families find their perfect resort or campground and live the dream of providing a true Minnesota vacation tradition.  In 2023, he became the broker and founder of JMDS Properties.  In 2025 he expanded JMDS to include lake homes, cabins and lakeshore properties in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

John & Doreen live north of Grand Rapids MN on beautiful wooded acreage and have been married since 1998. They have a daughter who keeps them young.
